The seat of the TJ Sokol sport organisation was built in the 1930s according to the design by J. France in the modern Functionalistic style, which corresponded with the ideas of Sokol. The philosophy of Sokol evolved from the ancient Greek ideals of "kalokagathia" and built on the traditions of German gymnastics, democracy and humanity. The main hall of the building was rebuilt in the 1950s into the Cinema called Úsvit, which was until its closing one of the most modern cinemas in the country (the so-called ‘panoramic’ cinema). After its demolition and rebuilding in 2006 the premises are now an example of the fusion of the historical and modern architecture. At the present there are storage rooms, a multifunctional building and the seat of Sokol.
