Writer, translator and playwright Milan Kundera, the internationally most successful and most translated author of the Czech origin, has lived in France since 1978. His second novel Život je jinde (Life is Elsewhere) was published in February 2012 by the Sofia Colibri Publishers (translated by Anzelina Penceve). Kudnera wrote his book in French and published it in 1973; it was published in Czech, just as his consequent novels, in Toronto in 1978. The novel carries a strong theme of a person, who ‘face-to-face’ with the ‘great’ history ceases to know what to do with himself and becomes a desperate man – derailed and dangerous to himself as well as to his surroundings.
