Literature Night 2010 in Rotterdam will take place late at night on the 5th of June within the framework of the annual Dutch Months of Thrilling Literature. International happening with authors from five European countries (the Czech Republic, Austria, Denmark, Romania and the Netherlands) will be organised by the Czech Centre and associated cultural institutes of the countries mentioned above as well as in cooperation with Opera Fund Intornito which will also be providing a spectacular musical accompaniment during the event.
Literature Night 2010 will take place on board of a former gigantic, however today somewhat worn down battleship, The Fighter inside Rotterdam’s cargo port of Schiehaven. Participation on this event therefore requires a certain degree of courage - you have to jump on board from the quay.
The Czech guest of this evening will be writer, translator and Germanist Radka Denemarková (1968) known predominantly by her novels Peníze od Hitlera/ Money from Hitler (Host) and A já pořád, kdo to tluče/ Who´s That Banging on the Door (Petrov). Mrs Denemarková will be reading from her books and will plunge into discussion not only with the visitors but also with colleagues from other countries. The discussions will be conducted under the guidance of literary critique Daria Bouwman.
