The novel by the renowned composer/folk singer, poet, journalist and current president/chairman of the International PEN club is a mosaic of Czechoslovakian destiny during the twentieth century which puts an emphasis on the second half of this period and overlaps with the present. It is composed from tiny everyday pictures and put on a framework of a family story. Author in his storytelling didn’t make the situation easier for era nor for his heroes.
