A grotesquely thrilling story, which could have taken place anywhere, is about a murder and an inevitable connection between a man and a woman who are drowned in doubts about solitude. But theatre settings in which the story is set up open a unique space for deeper passions and hysterias to which, in addition, the curtain will drop for good. In 2003 the author was nominated for the Alfred Radok Prize and in 2007 her second novel Peníze od Hitlera/Money from Hitler won the Magnesia Litera Prize for the best fiction of the year.

Vladislav Vančura: Útěk do Budína (Escape to Budín)

Vladislav Vančura is a well known writer and playwrighter who has inherently become a part of the history of the inter-war period literature. Anxiety to get rid of everything what restrains our development of free human nature and activity radiates from his entire production. A story of two lovers on the run to Budín is one of such struggles against conventions of existing prose.

It was an offer and I accepted it. Everything in the book is true.” Carrére was born in Paris and is a grandchild of Russian immigrants. He obtained a degree in political sciences. He is a writer, director and author of successful novels from which many have been turned into films. Novel Iné životy, ako moj was published in France in 2009 and received many prizes.
